I promise I didn't drop off the face of the earth! I guess I've just been busy with life. Nothing in particular but everything in general.
I am gearing up for a big yard sale day tomorrow. One of my favorite church sales starts in the morning at 6:00 a.m. I hope to be there when they open the door!
On my weekly thrift store trip I ran across this child's ride on toy. As I was trying to research it last night I couldn't remember what they were called. Hot Wheels? No-- that's the little matchbox size car. Power Wheels? Nope-- those are operated by batteries. I had to consult my husband who thought about it for a while and then shouted BIG WHEEL! Do you remember these? They were a low riding pedal powered tricycle with a BIG wheel on the front and two small wheels on the back. Well, imagine my delight when I ran across this one last night! It's a police car! I paid $6.88 but I figured I could re-sell it and at least double or triple my money. It was a little worse for wear but I decided to chance it anyway.
So I buy it and load it in my car. Fast forward until this afternoon when I unload my car.
It's cool, isn't it? Do you notice anything missing?
Still don't? What about the other handle?
I guess when I jammed it in the back of my car and shut the trunk it popped off the handle. Waaaahhhhhhhh! That, my friends, is a junking fail! I had to laugh to keep from crying!
Since I was unloading my car and had my iPhone handy I figured I would snap a couple of pictures of some of my recent finds. Look at this neat basket! The lid says Lady Love Cosmetics. I was drawn in by the red, white and blue color scheme. I thought about
Shara and her basket collection when I found it. It will be going to one of the booths.
Please ignore the crusty tote. I used it to stage my photos.
I would also like to report that
I did my first curb pick last week! I was riding in a car and saw a "free" table set up by the sidewalk. I screamed "stop the car" and was out the door in a flash! It was a table loaded with Disneyana. I tried to use restraint and save some for others. This is what I got:
2 large melamine plates, a small melamine plate, a button, a couple of plastic cups and saucers and TWO Mickey Mouse Glasbake mugs. For free. I couldn't believe it! They are in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. I researched everything and it looks like the items are worth around $50.00.
Much of what I buy is for resale. Sometimes I like to buy things for me. Example:
A beautiful, decorative Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities book.
The spine is just as pretty.
Ok...turn your head sideways for this one. A set of decorative keys on a huge ring. I know they're brass but me likes anyway!
And finally, one of the antique malls that I'm in usually has a cute little vignette right by the cashier stand. They have different themes and pull items from various booths to complete the vignette. It's great "publicity" for your items because they are front and center! Well -- one of my items made it to the Mother's Day / Pink vignette. My little heirloom pink dress! Isn't it sweet?
I didn't mean to write a book but it's been awhile and we had stuff to talk about. Right?
Until next time,
Happy Junking!
