Holy Week

This is big week for we Christians! I wanted to say us Christians but I don't believe that is proper grammar. If you've read this blog then you understand using improper grammar has never stopped me before! (smile). Anyway back to Holy Week. Today is Palm Sunday, we reflect on Good Friday and celebrate on Easter Sunday! I thought these pictures would be appropriate for this week. I snapped these yesterday at a small Baptist church in Jemison
, Alabama. We were there for a wedding. The church had beautiful stained glass windows, each depicting a different scene from the life of Christ! They were incredible!
I wish I would have taken the time to take a picture of each window.

Our trip was a whirlwind trip. We drove up Friday evening and came home Saturday. Did I manage to get in some junking while I was there? Yes! We ran across a flea mall on a trip to Wal-Mart.
I found two Butterprint Pyrex bowls and the small blue Pyrex bowl to help complete my primary colors set. Now all I lack is the red bowl and I will have a complete set! Yay!
I also found an antique child's ironing board and a couple of other items that I will re-sell in my booths. My husband, the junk curmudgeon, even found something for himself. A like new Craftsman router with the box! He needs tools so he can build me cabinets to hold all my junque!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Until next time,
Happy Junking!

Vacation Day - Part Two

I also worked at my other booth Friday. I planned an Easter vignette around the gorgeous Last Supper framed print that I found at America's Thrift Store for $9.88.

Cute heirloom pink dress that was new WITH TAGS when I found it at the thrift.

Scrumptious blue chenille pillows:

My $5.00 aqua cart:

Flamingo pink Pyrex:

Vacation Day

I took a vacation day today to do "booth work.". It was a long day that started at IHOP and ended here:

At Stage Coach restaurant in Stockton, Alabama. Stockton is about an hour from where we live. We'd heard very good things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint! There was an elderly woman very tastefully playing a piano keyboard. She was wonderful! For the duration of our meal we played the ultimate game of name that tune. She would go from Yellow Rose of Texas to Don't It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue without missing a beat!

My booth at the Queen's Attic had been badly neglected. But I remedied that today! The rest of my post is going to be image heavy without much narration.

I wasn't particularly happy with how this shelf turned out. I had collected several lighthouse things that I needed to get rid of.

That is one groovy lava lamp!

Do you remember the Fisher Price Happy Apple?

I also worked at Cotton City. I'll try to post those tomorrow.

Until next time,
Happy Junking!

My Dream Yard Sale Vehicle

I had to put my car in the shop earlier this week. When I pulled up at the shop I saw this van.

Seriously, is this not the cutest van ever?

So I'm thinking that this would make an excellent yard sale vehicle. Minus the McConaghy logo and maybe add Ms. Jackie's Junque in its place?

Until next time,
Happy Junking!

Happy Days Are Here Again

Yard sale season is back in full swing here in Southern Alabama and I love it! It didn't seem to me that there were as many yard sales this winter. We have a very mild winter so sales in even the dead of winter are not out of the question. That just wasn't the case this year.

My first big all day yard sale trip was last Saturday. I was not disappointed. My very first find was a vintage aqua metal rolling kitchen cart for .....drumroll $5.00. Yes please! I want to keep it but off to one of the booths it shall go.

Look at this cute bunny that I found at my fav thrift....America's Thrift Store.

Am I the only one that thinks that this bunny looks like MC Hammer?

Stop! Hammertime! Look at all this fabric:

Moving on... I tested my 8 cup Fire King mixing pitcher and made broccoli cornbread. It was perfect for the job.

I'm planning a BIG redo for each booth on Friday. I'll be posting pictures after that. I'm busy as a bee trying to get everything ready. Have I ever told ya'll how much I hate removing price stickers? Ugh!

Until then,
Happy Junking!

Oh Junking . . . How Do I Love Thee?

Oh junking . . . how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. One of my most favorite kitchen tools came from a garage sale. It is a vintage Fire-King 4 cup measuring pitcher. I LOVE that thing! It is perfect for just about any small hand mixing job. Like making muffins. Or garlic cheddar biscuits. Or scrambling eggs.

4 Cup

Well. . . what would be more perfect? What about an 8 cup Fire-King measuring pitcher! Yes! $4.88 at America's Thrift Store. Just sitting on the shelf Wednesday evening. Waiting for me.

8 Cup

8 Cup

It is now sitting in my kitchen and I couldn't be happier!

Now on to a little booth news - I rearranged my Cotton City booth and did a little vignette featuring this gorgeous Irish prayer needlepoint:

I'm hoping someone loves it as much as I did!

Until next time,

Happy Junking!

Abba Temple Yard Sale 2012

On February 4th I participated in the first Abba Temple yardsale of 2012. I would rate it a success. I tried a new strategy at the end of the sale. My strategy was , during the last 30 minutes of the sale, to sell items for 1.00 each. I cleared out a good bit of stuff that I had hauled around for too long!.
